Soheli Azad

Soheli K. Azad is a scholar, educator, writer, and Fulbright alumna whose work centers on higher education, gender, multiculturalism, and social justice. She taught at the University of Dhaka’s Department of Women and Gender Studies from 2004 to 2014 and served for three years as departmental Chair. Her academic journey spans Bangladesh and the United States, including a PhD and BA from the University of Dhaka, an MA in Women’s and Gender Studies from Rutgers University, and an MS in Higher Education Administration from Baruch College, CUNY, where she graduated with a 4.0 GPA and received several academic honors.

As a South Asian immigrant, nontraditional student, mother, and lifelong learner, Soheli brings deep multicultural competence, gender sensitivity, and empathy shaped by lived experience across countries and cultures. Her teaching, research, and writing explore educational access, inequality, identity, immigration, and the experiences of women and marginalized communities. Through her work, she seeks to preserve valuable knowledge, encourage thoughtful dialogue, and contribute to a more equitable and genuinely multicultural world.
